Grading:
The grading for this class is based on a 1-4 scale with the passing grade being a 2.7 over all, however, in order to get credit for the semester, all standards must receive a grade of at least 2.5. In order to remediate, you must speak to your teacher within five days of having received a non-passing score on powerschool. This means that you have five days to make arrangements with your teacher for remediation and make up. This classroom adheres to the Academic Achievement Scoring Guide outlined for you in the MVHS handbook, which can now be found at rsu10schools.com. Remember, you should be able to check your progress through Power School at any time.
What to expect:
We will be using EduNovela again this year as one of the learning platforms in which we will watch the show "El Gran Hotel". The show is a combination mystery romance set in Spain. The audio is set up so that you can listen at a normal Spanish conversation pace, or it can be slowed down to a rate of 75% slower or even 50% in case you are having a hard time understanding. It is important to know and remember, that you are not expected to understand everything that is said, you will have vocabulary to go along with each episode to aid in comprehension along with the audio speed adjustment. You will also have vocabulary on a running document which I will share with you for practice in both understanding the spoken language but also to aid in discussion. Remember that you may all be at different levels in your Spanish learning, what I expect from Spanish 3 students, will be different than what will be expected from Spanish 4 students.
Remember; the concept of learning a new language should be viewed as if you were on a sports team or learning to play a musical instrument... if you want to succeed, you must practice, Olympians did not get to the Olympics on sheer talent and desire, they work hard every day to do well!
